Mount Shade

A beautiful afternoon with wall to wall sunshine and 17 C and we were out in the hills - wonderful! Six of us met up at the busy Clach-na-Beinn car park for the planned circular walk up Mount Shade and back via the familiar Clachnaben trail. The first part of the walk was on good forest trails but eventually the path narrowed through heather fields. It was not long after this that Gordon took a funny turn - blurred vision etc - and sat down for a rest. Eventually he decided it was best to head back to the car park - Jeb and Ken accompanied him to make sure he was OK, whereupon Dave, Colin and I set off again up the hill. Here's a few of the photos:
Our concern about potential failing light from about 4 pm onwards led Dave, Colin and I to take a slight shortcut back down a steepish narrow and bumpy trail. When we eventually got back on to the planned route we soon met up again with Ken and Jeb who had made sure that Gordon was OK before heading back to meet us. This gave us the opportunity for a team photo:
Dave and Ken headed home whilst Jeb, Colin and I paid a visit to the Douglas where we exchanged texts with Gordon, who reported that he was safely home and feeling fine. Here's the route and the stats:
