Carnferg
The first "training" hill-walk of 2014 meant us all meeting up at Finzean on Sunday morning and driving west to do a circular route of Carnferg. Our first pit stop was at a well looked after bothy, reputedly owned by the Cowdray family (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Pearson,_4th_Viscount_Cowdray):
The next shot is taken as we neared the cairn at the top of Carnferg:
This is the view west of the distant Cairngorms from the summit:
and here's the official team photograph at the cairn:
Terrific views all round from the top - here's a quick flavour in video form:
My app lost communication contact a couple of times, but it seems to have finally figured out that it was a 3 hour 20 minute walk, covering just short of 8 kms with a climb of almost 400 metres:
Our first stop on the way back was the Finzean Farm Shop, where a couple of us made the tactical error of ordering bacon butties, which arrived overdone on a bijou roll. The fruit scones looked by far the better bet. Next stop was the Stag where we watched the end of Aberdeen's semi-final loss and most of Liverpool's victory over Manchester City.
