Pressendye

Image
From http://bvhill-walkers.blogspot.com/ Dave, John, Colin and I finally decided to walk up Pressendye, overlooking Tarland, yesterday. Weather conditions were fair - no rain, mild and occasional glimpses of sunshine. There was a bit of wind at the top, but nothing much really. We parked in the square at Tarland and walked west out of the village, initially along a single track tarred road. The walk is signposted blue, but there was a distinct dearth of signs on the initial part of the walk, which meant we missed a turn and ended up walking over 11 miles, instead of the planned route of 9 miles (check  http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/aberdeenshire/pressendye.shtml  ) It was a circular route: I suspect we were meant to cut across from point 5 to point 8 - or maybe from 4 to 9? - but we obviously missed a sign. Here's what the route should have looked like: Anyway, here's an early team photo as we stopped to admire the view: Note that John brought along his s...

August walk

From http://bvhill-walkers.blogspot.com/ Ken and Ian are no longer available any of the Sundays in August, so I think the only realistic possibility is this coming Sunday - 12th - Dave, John and I are still available and I hope CK is too.

August walk correction

From http://bvhill-walkers.blogspot.com/ Apologies for previous posting - we hadn't actually decided which date in August. In fact, this coming Sunday (12th) was actually the most popular - 5 had previously confirmed availability - Colin, Ian, Ken, John and I. Dave was also a possibility when last I heard. I could probably still do this Sunday, but I'm golfing down in Johnstone on Saturday and won't be home until late, so don't really want too early a start on Sunday if we're going ahead with it. The following Sunday (19th) is also a possible for me - and Dave and Ken are available then too. Probably best if everyone could please update their availability and preferences for the next 3 Sundays?

Next training walk

From http://bvhill-walkers.blogspot.com/ It's been a while since our last correspondence, so I thought it would be a good idea to issue a little memory jog about plans for this month's "training" walk. At the last count, there were just 3 of us confirmed for Sunday 26th August - me, John and Ian. Dave, Ken and Andy are not available then, but not sure about Colin or Gordon - or even Malcolm or Dan? I'm particularly keen to do something that day as I've missed all this year's walks so far and I need to try out my knees prior to next month's trip to the Lake District. I have now been fitted with new orthotic wedges in an effort to take some of the pain of walking out of my knees, and I really need to try them out before I even think of travelling to the Lake District. Responses on availability etc appreciated.
