Crathes loop

It was such a nice day that Jo and I decided to go on a short walk. We dawdled quite a bit, but ended up doing one of the cycle routes, out to Crathes Castle and back past the brewery and then Upper Lochton and Glen o' Dee - a total of 11 miles, which took us 5 hours in all, including lunch and stops.

Loch Muick again

We had planned a coastal walk on Sunday morning but the forecast then was poor so, thinking that it might be cancelled - and it was eventually - I wanted to at least get some walking in soon, so Jo and I took the opportunity of a bright start to the day on Saturday morning and headed off up Deeside to the Balmoral Estate and Loch Muick.

Having previously done the circular walk round the loch clockwise (CK insisted), Jo and I decided to go t'other way this time. The first half of the walk to the head of the loch is mostly on good quality, wide, Land Rover track and the weather was fine.

By the time we turned back at the head of the loch, the trail gets narrower and rockier and we had a couple of short squalls, but there was a nice photo opportunity at one of the falls:

It was an easy 3 hour walk with lots of photo stops over the 8 mile route. Full stats here - http://www.mapmywalk.com/workout/720984441
