Scolty

Like Mr. Sharp last week, the frustration of no golf led to me heading up Scolty yesterday morning. I walked from my house up to the gate at Scolty where you decide whether to take the shorter, steep route or the longer not-so-steep way up, when who should I see coming running down the hill but our son, Gary and his little dog, who had, unbeknownst to me, driven over from Inverurie for some hill-running training.
Gary had been to the top and confirmed Ian's comments about the snow on the route, which, if anything, has got more icy over this last week, and, knowing my dodgy knees would struggle, advised me not to go further up the hill, so the two of us walked west instead, where, bizarrely, the paths had been cleared. Why were these routes cleared and not the main route up the hill?
Very pleasant walk, just short of 10kms and coffee and scone in Tease afterwards. Nice way to spend the morning - although I still wish it could have been golf instead. Here's the route:
