Lake District

From http://bvhill-walkers.blogspot.com/

Following up CK's suggestion of the Lake District for a walking weekend next year, check out a couple of web sites:

  1. http://www.bestvaluefares.co.uk/camra-real-ale-pubs-on-the-lake-line
  2. http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/train-tickets-and-rail-offers/special-offers.htm
  3. http://www.lake-district-guides.co.uk/accommodations/hotelspubsrooms.html
A bit like John's idea of the Hebrides, combining cycling and walking, there appear to be possibilities of combining some rail travel with walks in Cumbria.

It all needs a bit more research but hopefully these at least stimulate the thought processes!

2011 Hill-walking ideas

From http://bvhill-walkers.blogspot.com/

Pub talk on Friday was about plans for hill-walking next year. Two ideas emerged:

  1. Lake District walking/ale tour
  2. Ken's pad on the west coast, timed to coincide with the local beer festival
Ken was going to check on dates for the latter, but the former could be done at a time to suit us all - a long weekend again probably.

Some Sunday "training" walks could again be planned.
