Latest news from the Vets Hill-walkers blog (http://bvhill-walkers.blogspot.com/): Accommodation now booked for Thursday 16th and Sunday 19th September at the Nevisbank Inn (http://www.nevisbankinn.co.uk/), Fort William (recommended by John McDonald) - 3 twin rooms en suite - £55 per head per night - for Ian, Colin, John, Dave, Jack and I. We already have accommodation booked (one triple room, one twin room) for the Friday night at the Kings House Hotel, Glencoe - but only for the original 5 of us just now - I need to add Jack to this booking - and possibly Ken? On Saturday night, we are staying at the Tail Race Inn (http://www.tailraceinn.com/), Kinlochleven. We have a family room and a twin room booked - there's enough beds for 6 of us, although I've only so far advised them of 5 of us - I need to tell them about Jack joining us - but, again, what about Ken? I have also made contact with Travel-lite (http://www.travel-lite-uk.com/) and they will arrange to take our bags from ...

Clach na Beinn

Today was our 2nd scheduled training walk for the short version of the WHW planned for September, but plans started to go wrong on Thursday when the cloud of Icelandic volcano ash grounded all flights in Europe and stranded Dave in Amsterdam for the weekend. Nonetheless, there was still the prospect of six of us making it up Clach na Beinn - Jack was due to fly out to Houston, but, he too, was grounded, so we thought he might like to join us, but, in the end, he declined, saying "I don't need any training". OK - 2 down, but still another 5 possibles. I then got a text from Ian early on Sunday morning advising that he had made a late decision to stay overnight in St Andrews and wouldn't therefore be able to join us after all. Anyway, Ken, Colin and I met at the golf club at 9 am, as planned, and settled down to our bacon butties and waited for John to join us.
